Scientific panel recommends steps to lower unsafe phthalate exposures

Phthalates are a family of chemicals used in many consumer products, mainly as softeners of plastics and sometimes as solvents. Phthalates are also associated with a variety of adverse health effects, including being harmful to male reproductive organ development. Although some have been banned in children’s toys, it is still important to know what they are and where you and your family may be exposed.
